What is Gestalt Psychotherapy?

Gestalt Psychotherapy is a holistic approach which aims to explore how we relate in the world.

It is a flexible, creative and experimental way of working which values and includes all aspects of the individual from the perspective of our psychological, spiritual and emotional needs.

Gestalt psychotherapy works in the here and now, exploring how past relationships, traumas and losses continue to be played out in the present. I work to encourage direct contact with body processes and emerging feelings.

Who is Psychotherapy or Counseling for?

For anyone who is experiencing difficulties in their personal or professional lives. Issues are explored through the confidential therapeutic relationship, leading to an increase in awareness and choice.

Working together we will identify habitual patterns of behavior which may be blocking satisfaction and fulfillment.

Sessions are confidential. They tend to be weekly and last for an hour.

I did a post graduate Social Work training mid 1990’s. This work took me into a variety of settings in social care, education and the voluntary sector.

My training as a Gestalt Psychotherapist was with the Edinburgh Gestalt Institute where I am currently an assistant trainer.

I have a commitment and passion for work with people and believe strongly in the possibility of transformation and growth through relationship and deepening awareness.

I am a member of the Gestalt Psychotherapists Training Institute (GPTI) and abide by their Code of Ethics. I am registered with the The United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I work in private practice in Edinburgh and East Lothian. Please contact me to find out more and to arrange an initial consultation.
